SAD, BJP demand CM’s resignation

Chandigarh: Reacting to the murder of a sarpanch during a wedding function in Thathian Mahantaan village in Tarn Taran district, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) slammed the AAP-led Punjab govt and demanded that Bhagwant Mann should step down as chief minister.SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal said under Mann's "failed leadership, Punjab is gripped by shocking lawlessness!"He posted on X, "2 @AamAadmiParty sarpanches from Tarn Taran district brutally murdered at wedding functions in just weeks: Jharmal Singh gunned down on January 4 in Amritsar, and now Harbrinder Singh shot dead today in Tarn Taran. I express condolences to the bereaved families."Badal added, "Punjab witnessed 25 murders in January 2026 alone, and February is also seeing daily killings.
