Rs 3,309-cr welfare funds credited to Haryana beneficiaries: Saini

Chandigarh: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday said the state government was working with commitment to fulfil every promise made to the people, aligning its policies with the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat' under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Speaking during the ongoing budget session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha, the CM said the direct transfer of funds to beneficiaries under various welfare schemes reflected the Centre's commitment to good governance and public welfare.
The CM informed the House that on March 3, the state govt released Rs 68 crore to 602 gaushalas across Haryana. Further, on March 8, on the occasion of International Women's Day, the state govt transferred Rs 1,357 crore to about 35 lakh women beneficiaries covered under different welfare schemes. He said the govt also released Rs 1,884 crore under various social security and welfare schemes to beneficiaries on Monday. These include benefits under the Old Age Pension Scheme, DAYALU Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, and several other schemes.Saini said within a short span of time, the state govt transferred a total of Rs. 3,309 crore directly into the accounts of beneficiaries across Haryana, demonstrating the govt's commitment to public welfare under the leadership of the PM. He also announced that directions were issued to conduct an inquiry into the recent accident in Safidon city of Jind district. He said the families of the deceased will be provided a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each, while the injured will receive Rs 2 lakh each as relief.Plans to decongest Panipat roads Haryana public works (buildings and roads) minister Ranbir Gangwa said the govt is continuously making efforts to resolve the growing traffic congestion in Panipat city. He said the existing elevated highway on NH-44 provides smooth movement for main highway traffic. The existing Panipat–Rohtak section of NH-709 and the Panipat–Shamli section of NH-709AD serve as a western bypass for Panipat city.The minister said an 11.20-km-long, 10-metre-wide road had been constructed along Drain No. 2 from Barsat Road to Sanauli Road. A further 2.90-km stretch is proposed on the same bank, which will connect NH-44 (Delhi–Ambala) with NH-709AD (Panipat–Shamli) and serve as the eastern bypass of Panipat city. The govt has granted administrative approval of Rs 3,207.05 lakh for the project.Gangwa said a railway underpass had also been proposed in the market area of Kosli Railway Station for which the govt has granted administrative approval of Rs 520.15 lakh.He also informed the House that a proposal is under consideration to convert the existing tubewell system into a canal water-based water supply system in Murthal village of Rai assembly constituency and its nearby villages. A detailed project report (DPR) is being prepared in this regard.Desilting of Somb and Chautang Nallah to beginHaryana irrigation and water resources minister Shruti Choudhry said on Monday that proposals for desilting of Chautang Nallah, Somb river, and Nakti river in the Sadhaura assembly constituency are under govt's consideration.She said an estimate is being prepared to desilt Chautang Nallah from Burji No. 3,000 to 48,000 by June 30. She added that tenders had been issued to desilt the Somb river, but the NGT (National Green Tribunal) stayed the work on Feb 11. The next hearing in the matter is scheduled for May 15. Therefore, the tenders have been cancelled for now.Medicos' attendance through geofencing systemHaryana health minister Arti Singh Rao informed the House that the state govt would soon ensure that the attendance of doctors in govt hospitals is marked through biometric or geofencing systems. She said currently, due to the poor condition of the doctors' hostel at Al-Afia General Hospital in Mandi Khera village, which falls under the Ferozepur Jhirka assembly constituency, doctors were permitted to reside in Gurugram and Faridabad.Rao said a day-care cancer centre will soon be started in the newly created district of Hansi. Earlier, such centres were started in 22 districts.Sanitation workers in villagesHaryana development and panchayat minister Krishan Lal Panwar said safai karamchari in rural areas were being appointed on the basis of village population as per the 2011 Census.
