Shimla: The weather department on Wednesday predicted light rain in the low and mid hills, and light snow in the high hills of Himachal Pradesh. It also issued orange and yellow alerts for thunderstorms and lightning for three days, starting April 17.
The orange alert has been issued for thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds for the districts of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi, while a yellow alert was issued for Una, Bilaspur and Hamirpur districts for April 17.
A yellow alert for thunderstorms was also issued for Shimla, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts for April 17 and 18.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, from April 1 to 15, the state recorded 57.4 mm of rain, which is 81% more than the normal of 31.7 mm. The highest rainfall of 86.1 mm during this period was recorded in Shimla, followed by 85.1 mm in Mandi, 84.1 mm in Solan, and 80.8 mm in Bilaspur.
Meanwhile, Keylong in Lahaul Spiti recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 1.3℃ on Wednesday.
