CHANDIGARH: The central government has granted a one-year extension to IPS officer Kanwardeep Kaur, who is posted as SSP in Chandigarh. The order was issued from New Delhi on March 16, 2026.
A 2013-batch IPS officer of the Punjab cadre, Kanwardeep Kaur had joined as SSP Chandigarh on March 8, 2023, for a tenure of three years.
According to the order, her deputation period was set to expire on March 8, 2026. After considering a proposal sent by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the central government approved an extension of one year. She will now continue to serve in Chandigarh for another year.
Sources said the MHA sent the proposal in view of Kanwardeep Kaur’s services. The proposal was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Appointments.
Copies of the order have been sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Prime Minister’s Office, the Punjab government, and the Chandigarh administration.
