Illegal liquor meant for Bihar seized, 2 held

CHANDIGARH: Police on Monday arrested two people with illicit liquor and illegal arms at a special check post put up near the Sector 43 bus stand ahead of Republic Day celebrations. The accused are Munna Kumar Chaudhary and Shaan, both residents of Dhanas. Cops said 236 cases of illicit liquor of ‘Royal Green’ whiskey, a country-made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from them. Cops said Shaan had been declared a proclaimed offender in three cases of loot and rioting registered at three different police station in Chandigarh. Cops said the accused supplied illicit liquor in dry state of Bihar. A dealer of liquor from Chandigarh was allegedly involved in the smuggling.
