Jind: Women have come out in support of Neelam Verma — one of the accused in the parliament security breach — and took out a march, seeking immediate release of “their daughter”. They were on Monday joined by farmers’ outfits and students’ unions from Punjab and Haryana. The activists warned of intensifying their protest in case their demand was not met soon.
Beant Singh, a research scholar from Punjab, said rallies were being organised in his state as well. “She did not harm anybody in Parliament, but the government is projecting her as a terrorist. Centre should show a soft corner,” he added. tnn
