Firing case in Tarn Taran: Police apprehend 2 associates of Gopi Ghanshampur gang
Tarn Taran: The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in a joint operation with Tarn Taran police, apprehended two associates of Prabh Dassuwal of the Gopi Ganshampur gang for their alleged involvement in a recent firing incident at a salon in Patti Tarn Taran, said director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav here on Sunday.Those arrested have been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gandhi, a resident of Khadoor Sahib, and Jaskaran alias Karan, a resident of Phailoke village, both in Tarn Taran. Police teams also recovered three .30 bore country-made pistols from their possession.As per the information, on Aug 24 at 11.30pm, three bike-borne persons fired bullets upon a salon in Patti Tarn Taran. The owner of the salon was receiving extortion calls from unknown mobile numbers for the last few months, said Yadav.He said the preliminary investigation revealed that both the arrested persons were in touch with foreign-based gangster Prabh Dassuwal of the Gopi Ghanshampuria gang and carried out the firing on his directions to extort money. Both were further planning to commit sensational crimes in Punjab and frequently changing their location, he alleged.Additional director general of police (ADGP) AGTF Promod Ban said the police received specific human and technical inputs about these two suspects hatching a conspiracy to commit sensational crimes in the state. Acting swiftly, teams from AGTF Punjab, along with Tarn Taran police, apprehended the accused from Sarhali Road, Kairon in Tarn Taran, he said.Senior superintendent of police (SSP), Tarn Taran, Deepak Pareek said both the arrested accused have a criminal past with cases including murder, theft, and Arms Act, registered against them.
