Chandigarh: Counter Intelligence (CI) Jalandhar, in a joint operation with CI Mohali, apprehended two key perpetrators involved in RDX-based IED blast at Nalagarh police station in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said here on Sunday.
Those arrested were identified as Mahavir alias Kaka and Manpreet alias Mani, both residents of Nawanshahr. During the operation, 1 9 mm Glock pistol, along with 4 live cartridges, was recovered from their possession.

The DGP said, "The preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were acting on the directions of foreign-based masterminds Gopi Nawashehria, Jassi Kulam and Shushant Chopra, associated with the banned terrorist outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI)."
He said, "The arrested accused, along with their accomplices, procured consignments containing RDX-based IEDs and hand grenades on the instructions of their foreign handlers. From these consignments, an IED (RDX) was used by them to carry out the blast at Nalagarh Police Station in Himachal Pradesh on January 1."
The DGP added, "6 of their accomplices were already arrested by Punjab Police, who were picking up and further dropping terrorist hardware. With the arrest of these 2, the whole module was busted."
