Mohali: As part of the ongoing state-wide anti-drug drive, "Yudh Nasheyan Virudh," an illegally constructed property linked to a known drug smuggler was demolished at Gorakhnath Colony in Barhmajra area of Mohali. The action was taken by the police in association with the village panchayat under the jurisdiction of Balongi police station on Friday.
The demolished structure was found to be in possession of Sanjay Shah, resident of Gorakhnath Colony, Barhmajra, who is allegedly involved in multiple drug trafficking cases. Officials confirmed that the construction was raised illegally by encroaching upon panchayat land and was linked to proceeds of drug-related activities.

The demolition drive was conducted following due legal procedure and under tight security arrangements. It was supervised by SP (PBI) Deepika Singh and DSP, Kharar Karan Singh Sandhu, while BDPO Stawant Singh Randhawa was present at the site to ensure administrative compliance. Adequate police force was deployed to maintain law and order and ensure smooth execution of the action.
Mohali SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans stated that the accused is involved in a total of 5 FIRs.
Of these, three cases were registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Phase-1, Mohali and Balongi police stations. According to him, the demolition is part of a broader strategy to dismantle the illegal infrastructure created using money earned through drug smuggling.
The SSP said that the "Yudh Nasheyan Virudh" campaign focuses not only on arresting drug smugglers but also on breaking their financial backbone by targeting assets and properties acquired through illegal means. He assured that strict and sustained action against drug networks will continue.
