Deputy superintendent of police Tajinder Singh said that taking cognisance of the video, police began a departmental inquiry against the policemen, including inspector Surinder Singh.
As members of a disciplined force, police personnel are not allowed to engage in such activities, Tajinder added.
Reacting to the incident, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia demanded the immediate suspension of Mehta. "It is shocking that police personnel were used as ‘extras' in film shoots of AAP leaders at a time when anti-national elements are gunning down police personnel on the international border with Pakistan," he said.
Mehta's phone remained switched off, and he could not be contacted for comment.
