Delegates criticise China for allegedly trying to eradicate Tibetan culture, identity

Dharamshala: Members of Tibet Support Groups criticised China for allegedly attempting to "eradicate Tibetan culture and identity" on the concluding day of the three-day conference in Dharamshala on Monday.Addressing the gathering, German MP Michael Brand condemned what he described as China's attempts to wipe out Tibet's unique culture and called for stronger global efforts to protect and preserve it.
"We must spread the news — the ugly and tragic news — of the hundreds of thousands of children being forced into Chinese indoctrination, separated from their parents and families, only to cut the roots of the precious Tibetan language and tear apart the Tibetan heritage," said Brand. He added that the "Chinese regime is insecure, unsafe, rattled, and challenged.""As China views Tibet's distinct cultural, religious, and linguistic identity as a threat to its Han-centric notion of unity, we must raise awareness around the globe that the precious Tibetan culture—unique and of immense importance to the whole world—is under increasing threat," said Brand.Senator Jiří Oberfalzer, Vice President of the Czech Senate, said in his address that China did not want to negotiate on the Tibetan issue."The Tibetan leadership are willing to negotiate; China is not open to this solution, and they simply want to delete Tibet from the world.
