Ambala: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday said the Shaheed Smarak (Martyrs' Memorial) dedicated to the first war of independence of 1857, being developed in Ambala Cantonment, will emerge as a landmark symbol of patriotism, valour and sacrifice.Inspecting the under-construction memorial, which is in the final stages of completion, the CM said the memorial would not only preserve the country's historical heritage, but also inspire future generations, particularly the youth, with the ideals of nationalism and sacrifice. Haryana cabinet minister Anil Vij, senior government officers, historians, design experts and officials of concerned departments were also present during the inspection."Haryana has always been a land of brave warriors and martyrs, and the state government is committed to preserving the legacy of freedom fighters and national heroes. The memorial would present a blend of historical facts, grand architecture and modern technology, making it a major attraction for tourists," the CM said. Calling the project a "national centre of patriotic consciousness," CM Saini said the memorial would play an important role in keeping the spirit of nationalism alive. The CM also appreciated the efforts of minister Anil Vij in conceptualising and executing the ambitious project, saying his personal interest and guidance had helped shape the memorial into a grand historic structure.
