CM dismisses Ayushman payment irregularity charges

Chandigarh: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday dismissed the allegations of irregularities and delayed disbursal of claims under the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Haryana.While replying to the opposition's attention motion on Ayushman Bharat Yojana, Saini said the allegations of payment irregularities and stoppage of treatment by private hospitals were baseless, factually incorrect, and far from the truth.
Congress MLAs brought the adjournment motion on the Ayushman Bharat scheme while alleging that, due to delayed disbursal of payments, the private hospitals started refusing patients, especially beneficiaries, for treatment. "Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana was launched on Dec 23, 2018, under the leadership of the Prime Minister, providing eligible families health insurance cover of up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year across 2,694 treatment packages," he said. Saini said that in the last five months, no beneficiary lodged any complaint that a hospital refused treatment due to non-payment under the Ayushman Yojana. He said the opposition's claim of emergency-like conditions in the state's health sector was politically motivated, exaggerated, and an insult to lakhs of doctors and paramedical staff. He said that in Feb, up to Feb 21, private hospitals alone submitted 33,911 pre-authorisation requests, arguing that such large numbers would not be possible if hospitals stopped treatment. He further said that during the financial year 2025-26, empanelled private hospitals submitted 5,91,863 claims. On the issue of payments, the CM said attempts were being made to spread misconceptions. He stated that in 2024-25, private hospitals submitted claims worth Rs 1,236 crore, of which Rs 1,100 crore was paid, amounting to about 89 percent settlement. He said around Rs 250 crore was released to empanelled hospitals in the last three months alone. He also said that under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Chirayu Yojana, claims worth Rs 3,862.36 crore were disbursed for the treatment of 27,42,306 people in the state. MSID:: 129339984 413 |
