CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh commission for protection of

child rights

(CCPCR) organized a capacity building programme for station house officers (SHOs) of Chandigarh police, juvenile/child welfare officers as designated under the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act and other stakeholders such as officials of helpline 181,

childline

1098 and child care institutions of Chandigarh at the UT guest house in Sector 6 on Saturday.


The training programme was attended by 48 policemen across Chandigarh.

While addressing the participants, CCPCR chairperson Harjinder Kaur said: “We all need to build a sense of empathy amongst ourselves to view every child, whether child in conflict with law or in need of care and protection, as our own and deal with issues like a parent and give requisite support to him.”

Haryana vigilance bureau director KP Sindh said that the important provisions of the JJ Act and the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act were intended for the benefit of children and to protect and foster their rights.
