Amritsar: The commissionerate police here on Sunday claimed to have dismantled a cross-border illegal arms module following the apprehension of two persons and recovery of five sophisticated pistols, along with 10 live cartridges.
Gaurav Yadav, director general of police, Punjab, said preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers through social media platforms and facilitated illegal arms consignments for further supply to criminal elements on their directions.

He further said an FIR was registered against the arrested accused at police station Cantonment, Amritsar, under the Arms Act, adding that further investigation was under way to trace forward and backward linkages of the illegal arms network.
