Vigilance sleuths raid 5 locations linked to junior assistant
Cuttack: Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday raided five locations linked to Subrat Kumar Behera, a junior assistant at the Angul chief district medical officer (CDMO) office over alleged misappropriation of Rs 2.38 crore govt funds. He has been on the run since Oct 2025.Vigilance sources said Behera has allegedly misappropriated Rs 2.38 crore by drawing excess amount towards his salary over a period of 8 years (2017 to 2025) and credited the amount to his salary account in SBI, Angul branch.

The places being searched include his triple-storied residential building at Hakimpada in Angul town, the house of his relative at Bonda village under Nalco Nagar police limits in Angul, his paternal house at Baunsapokhari in Hindol area of Dhenkanal district, a rented house of his cousin at Shree Vihar in Bhubaneswar, and his office room at the CDMO office in Angul. Gold worth 450 gram, one car and three two wheelers were detected. Officials are examining financial documents, bank transactions and other records to ascertain the money trail.
