Sambalpur: Union education minister
Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday led a tricolour march at Kudopali, a historic land of valour in Sambalpur district, ahead of Saheed Diwas to be observed on Monday in memory of India’s freedom fighters.
Earlier in the day, Pradhan inaugurated a commemorative gateway at Sindurpank Square on NH-53 (Kolkata–Mumbai route). The gateway has been built in honour of freedom fighter Veer Chhabila Sai and 56 other martyrs who laid down their lives fighting British rule. The structure prominently features a flaming torch, the Ashoka Chakra, the Ashoka Pillar and traditional Sambalpuri Ikat motifs, symbolising sacrifice, courage and cultural heritage.
Following the inauguration, Pradhan flagged off the tricolour march from Shaheed Kudopali Primary School, which proceeded to the Shaheed Smruti battlefield site. He also paid floral tributes at the Kudopali Martyrs’ Pillar.
