Bhubaneswar: The SOA University on Sunday announced launching of a pan-Odisha project to address oral cancer in the state.
The project will be part of the university's corporate social responsibility involving identification of vulnerable groups, creating awareness and advice on lifestyle modification. It would also focus on implementation early diagnostic techniques and comprehensive treatment plan for the cancer-affected, said Amit Banerjee, vice-chancellor of the university while addressing the university's foundation day celebrations.
He said oro-dental specialists, community medicine experts, nursing personnel, social workers, NGOs, scores of volunteers and a group of hard-core researchers would be involved in the project.
The university, ranked 16th best in the country by the National Institutional Ranking Framework of the ministry of human resource development recently, would also be launching five of its own international calibre peer reviewed journals covering various disciplines under its domain, Banerjee said.
The editorial board of these journals would be drawn from nationally as well as internationally acclaimed academics in their respective fields, he said adding the journals would be on healthcare and life sciences, management sciences, hospitality and tourism management, legal studies, engineering and technology and agricultural sciences.
