Bhubaneswar: Odisha is planning to add 502 PG seats in govt medical colleges and hospitals and PG institutes across the state.
On Friday, Santosh Kumar Mishra, Director Medical Education and Training (DMET), Odisha, urged principals of govt medical colleges and hospitals and directors of two PG institutes to take necessary steps to enhance PG seats and open new courses in these institutions.
He also asked the authorities to submit a comprehensive proposal regarding post creation (if any), along with the financial implications, required for this purpose. Mishra said this letter may be treated as most urgent, keeping in view the National Medical Commission (NMC) application portal.
“We conducted a review meeting with authorities of medical colleges and PG institutes and found that 502 PG seats can be created in these institutions.
The colleges and PG institutes will take action on this matter,” Mishra said.
As per his letter, there is scope for the creation of 37 PG seats at Dharanidhar Medical College and Hospital (MCH), Keonjhar; 57 seats at Bhima Bhoi MCH, Balangir; 18 at PRM MCH, Baripada; 26 at PGIMER Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar; 24 at SCB MCH, Cuttack; 36 at Pabitra Mohan Pradhan MCH, Talcher; 70 at Maharaja Jajati Keshari MCH, Jajpur; 76 at govt MCH, Phulbani; 75 at SLN MCH, Koraput; 35 at SRM MCH, Kalahandi; 19 at MKCG MCH, Berhampur and 29 seats at govt MCH, Sundargarh.
