Berhampur: Panic gripped MKCG Medical College and Hospital here following the fire that broke out in the ICU of the TB and chest department on Thursday evening. There was no loss to life but a wall fan was damaged. Three patients who were undergoing treatment in the room were shifted to other rooms.
Superintendent of the medical college and hospital Sudeepta Das said it was not a major fire. “There were sparks due to short circuit and there was some smoke. Before the arrival of fire services personnel, security staff of the ward extinguished the fire completely by using an extinguisher,” said Sweta Das, the registrar. “The room is completely safe now,” said the superintendent, adding that authorities would review the safety measures and take necessary steps.
