Bhubaneswar: Law minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Monday alleged that false propaganda is being spread on social media against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union ministers and cautioned people against circulating unverified claims. He said the truth would soon emerge and urged users to refrain from commenting on such issues without clarity. “Spreading baseless information will pollute politics and discourage good people from entering public life,” he said.Harichandan was responding to queries on social media posts linking Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan to a house in the US and a photograph of a woman being claimed as a NEET accused.Alleging a pattern, he said some opposition parties, including Congress, have “used toolkits” in the past to target the PM and Union ministers. “They had failed earlier and have now resumed attempts to defame the govt using false information. I am sure the truth will come out,” he added.BJP spokesperson Anil Biswal, in a social media post, termed as “totally fabricated” claims linking a property owned by one Rajendra Mohapatra in Melrose, USA, to Pradhan. He said available records show that the couple, Rajendra Mohapatra and his wife Komal Mohapatra, have no public or private connection with Pradhan or his family and have been living and conducting business in the US for several years.Biswal further clarified that another individual, Rajendra Kumar Mohapatra of Talcher in Angul district, who is known to Pradhan’s family, is a different person and has no link to the property in question. “He has never travelled to the USA, and there is no record connecting him with the Melrose-based couple,” Biswal said.He also dismissed claims linking Prof. Radhakrishnan Jayaraman to a US property and alleging that he was the local guardian of Pradhan’s daughter. “Prof. Jayaraman has stated on camera that he has never visited the US and does not own any house there,” Biswal added.
