Cuttack: Cuttack police have strictly prohibited the use of weapons, such as swords, lathis (sticks) and other types of arms, during the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations and immersion processions across the district. Cuttack DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo, addressing the media on Monday, said, “No individual or puja committee will be allowed to carry or display any kind of weapon, whether traditional or symbolic, during the festival or during immersion processions. Strict legal action will be taken against violators and the committees’ heads will be held responsible for such acts.”
To ensure a peaceful and incident-free celebration, instructions have been issued to all local police stations to conduct checks and ensure compliance.
Police said at least 70 platoons of security officials will be deployed across Cuttack city to check any untoward incidents during puja.
“Every puja committee must obtain prior permission for all activities, including procession routes, timing and fire safety arrangements,” Khilari added. “We are committed to maintaining law and order and cooperation of the committees is essential,” he said.
