Rourkela: In a crackdown on the illegal drug trade under 'Nasha Mukt Odisha Drive’, Rourkela police on Monday demolished six houses, allegedly linked to people involved in multiple pending criminal cases, including drug trafficking, in Meena Pada here.
In a press release issued on Monday, Rourkela police said under the ongoing 'Nasha Mukt Odisha Drive’, a joint eviction and demolition drive was carried out at Meena Pada under Plantsite police station by the police and local administration. “Meena Pada has long been identified as a sensitive area with repeated allegations relating to illegal drug trade and anti-social activities, which had raised serious concerns regarding public safety, and law and order,” said the release of Rourkela police.
Senior police and administrative officers supervised the operation on the spot to maintain peace and prevent any untoward incident.
The police and local administration reiterated their commitment to continue strict action against narcotics networks, anti-social activities and illegal encroachments in the interest of public safety and maintenance of law and order, said the release.
