Sambalpur: Burla police on Tuesday arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly brandishing a sword at a public place and creating panic in the Sabji Market area in Burla.
Police swung into action after a video of the youth threatening and allegedly extorting people near High School Field went viral on social media. Based on the footage, a case was registered at Burla police station.

The accused has been identified as Prem Kumbhar, a resident of the High School Field area under Burla police limits.
He was arrested around 3pm on Tuesday and later produced in court. During a subsequent house search, police seized a sword measuring about 40 cm in length and 4 cm in width, and a mobile phone containing the viral video.
Police sources said the accused is a habitual offender and was earlier booked in several criminal cases registered at Burla police station under relevant sections of the BNS.
