Rourkela: Two inter-state ganja peddlers from
Uttar Pradesh have been arrested by Sadar police in Sundargarh district on Thursday for illegally transporting over 89kg of ganja worth around Rs 10 lakh. The duo were identified as Kausal Srivastav (41) of Allahabad and Sunil Kumar Sahu (34) of Sultanpur.
Based on reliable information, a team of Sadar police intercepted a car near Baghabandha in Karamdihi area. The occupants tried to escape but were caught after a chase by police, who searched the vehicle.
Under the direct monitoring of SP (Sundargarh), a special police team was constituted to investigate the supply chain from source to destination and financial aspects. It is found that the accused were using a fake number plate on the car to deceive police. Sadar police brought them to the police station. After interrogation, they were arrested on Thursday, said inspector in-charge, Sadar police station, Saudamini Nag.
