Water supply from Narmada to be increased

This summers the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) will supply 130 MLD water per day from the Narmada water project. Till now, the BMC has been supplying 90 MLD water daily from Narmada.

BHOPAL: This summers the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) will supply 130 MLD water per day from the Narmada water project. Till now, the BMC has been supplying 90 MLD water daily from Narmada.
Delivering her budget speech, mayor Krishna Gaur claimed 75% work on construction of over head tanks meant for water supply and 85% work for laying of the feeder pile line have been completed.

Raising doubts, however, the Congress corporators alleged that construction work at various sites of the water supply system was going on at snail's pace.
Mayor said, "Under JNUURM project all over Bhopal 62 over-head tanks have been proposed to be constructed. Out of this 10 have been constructed and for 14 testing is going on. For 20 tanks the pipeline connection work is going on."
Around 112.45 km feeder main line has been proposed to be laid and till now work of laying of 96.33 kilometer line has been completed.
Narmada water pipeline has been linked to 28 head over tanks and the supply has been started in many colonies of Bhopal.
The Congress corporator Abdul Shafiq Khan said, "The officers concerned under JNNURM project never visit the construction site."
