Trucker dies as bike falls into under-construction culvert
Bhopal: A 32-year-old truck driver from Bhopal died after his motorcycle fell into an under-construction culvert on the Raisen–Rahatgarh state highway in Raisen district during the early hours of Monday. The deceased, Abdul Qayyum, a resident of Shaheed Nagar, was on his way to Begumganj when the accident occurred.Police said the incident is suspected to have taken place around 4 am but came to light later in the morning when passers-by spotted the motorcycle and informed authorities. Qayyum suffered fatal injuries after being impaled by exposed iron rods at the construction site."The deceased was on a motorcycle and was alone. In the morning, locals saw it and informed us. He was going to Begumganj from Bhopal when the accident took place. The exact time of the accident is not known, but it is suspected that it might have taken place at around 4 am, and the rider could not see the warning board and fell into the under-construction culvert, leading to the accident. A case has been registered and probe is going on," Naktara police outpost in-charge Sher Singh Sulya told TOI.Police sent the body for post-mortem and filed a case.
