Three cops suspended for taking 5k bribe

Three policemen in Satna district were suspended after they allegedly extorted Rs 5,000 from a borewell manager by falsely claiming a ban on drilling, officials said. The action followed a social media exposé and a probe confirming the misconduct. Brijesh Patel allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 in the name of "managing" the station house officer and threatened to seize the drilling machine if the money was not paid. Fearing action, Ajit paid Rs 5,000, after which he was released, the complainant said. The matter came to light on Monday evening after details surfaced on social media. TNN
