BHOPAL: Shahjehanabad police on Friday registered a case against a scooter rider after a video of him allegedly urinating on a footpath near Taj Market went viral on social media.According to police, the video surfaced on WhatsApp groups and social media on May 29. It showed a man standing by the roadside near Taj Market and allegedly urinating in public around 3pm, while his companion remained seated on a scooter.Taking cognisance, police traced the scooter through its registration number. An MP Vehicle Portal search showed the vehicle is registered in the name of Ashok Sonwane, a resident of Sudama Nagar.Police said the act amounted to public nuisance and was punishable under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Based on video evidence, Shahjahanabad police registered a case under Section 296 (obscene act) and Section 270 (public nuisance) of BNS and launched further investigation.Police said they are verifying the identities of other persons seen in the video and examining the circumstances.
