JABALPUR: Four persons were injured after a 22-year-old man, allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, rammed his speeding car into multiple vehicles in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur city, police said on Sunday. The incident took place around midnight on Saturday along a one-kilometre stretch within the Omti police station limits, Inspector Rajpal Singh Baghel said.

According to police, the driver, identified as Anurag Soni, crashed into three cars and several two-wheelers before the vehicle finally slammed into the wall of a garden. Baghel said Soni, who appeared to be intoxicated, was pulled out of the mangled vehicle and taken to hospital as he too had sustained injuries. Three others — including a policeman and a teenager riding two-wheelers — were also injured in the incident, he added. The driver was subjected to a medical examination, which confirmed that he was in an inebriated state, the official said. Omti City Superintendent of Police Sonu Kurmi said a case has been registered and further investigation is underway. Police are also examining footage from a CCTV camera installed on the dashboard of the car, he said.
