Coal India arm to build sports academy in Singrauli
Bhopal: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), the Singrauli-headquartered subsidiary of Coal India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the district administration to establish a state-of-the-art sports academy, bolstering the region's sports infrastructure through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm.Under the MoU, NCL commits Rs 13.29 cr over two years to fund the development, operation, and maintenance of the modern sports complex. Designed to nurture local talent, the academy will feature top-tier indoor and outdoor facilities, including a swimming pool, basketball and lawn tennis courts, table tennis hall, badminton court, and cricket net practice pitch. Qualified trainers will provide structured coaching aligned with international standards, promoting physical fitness and unearthing hidden athletic potential among Singrauli's youth."This initiative will create a vibrant sports ecosystem, empowering young athletes to excel and compete at higher levels," said district collector Gaurav Benal, emphasizing its role in fostering inclusivity.The agreement was formalized on Wednesday by NCL's General Manager (CSR), Rajeev Ranjan, and Executive Engineer from Madhya Pradesh Housing and Infrastructure Development, Sher Singh Kalesh.
