Bhopal: A 22-year-old BSc topper allegedly died by suicide in Madhya Pradesh’s Panna district, a day after her final-year examination results were declared. The incident took a murky turn after her family members accused a local youth of harassment and blackmail.The incident was reported from Lodha Purwa village in Panna.According to family members, the student had topped the BSc final-year examination at Government College, Ajaigarh.However, just a day after the results were declared, on Thursday, she allegedly tried to take her own life on Friday evening.She succumbed while being taken to Rewa Medical College, the police said.Her father, a farmer, lodged a complaint alleging that a youth from a nearby village had been harassing and blackmailing his daughter for some time. The family claimed the accused had earlier been warned not to contact her, but allegedly continued to stalk her and even threatened to defame her.He claimed further that the youth repeatedly threatened to circulate videos and tarnish her reputation.The student was initially taken to Ajaigarh hospital but later referred to the district hospital in Panna before being shifted to Rewa due to her deteriorating condition.She died on the way to the Rewa hospital on Saturday morning, family members said.
