Bhopal: Panic spread in Nishatpura's Chhe Ghara–Kamal Nagar area near Housing Board Colony on Thursday afternoon after a woman's body was found inside a water tank built on a vacant plot. Body was stuffed inside a closed trunk, police suspect she was murdered and later her body was disposed in the tank.On receiving information, Nishatpura police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to the mortuary for a post-mortem.

Nishatpura SHO Manoj Patwa said a local resident informed police around 3:30 pm after noticing a foul smell near the tank. When he went closer, he found the lid open and saw a trunk inside, following which he alerted police. Police reached the spot with the FSL team and inspected the crime scene. With the help of sanitation workers, police pulled the trunk out of the tank. Its lid was already open, revealing the body of a woman. Police said the tank was about 10 feet deep and half-filled with water, and it was emptied with the help of locals. A dead animal was also found inside. It was also suspected that stones were stuffed in the trunk along with the woman's body.The SHO said the body appeared to be 3 to 4 days old and started decomposing. Police did not rule out homicide and said a murder case will be registered after the post-mortem report clarifies the cause of death and manner of killing.
