Bhopal horror: Speeding truck runs over woman after hitting bike; husband escapes unhurt

BHOPAL: A 40-year-old woman was killed after a speeding truck hit the motorcycle she was riding pillion on in Garhi Malhara town of Chhatarpur district on Tuesday. A video of the accident surfaced on Wednesday.Eyewitnesses said the truck was moving at high speed when it brushed past the bike from the side, causing it to lose balance. The woman fell onto the road and was run over by the truck within seconds. She suffered severe injuries to her chest and abdomen and died on the spot.The deceased was identified as Ramkunwar Kushwaha (40), wife of Rajju Kushwaha, a resident of Badua village under Garhi Malhara police station.She had come to Garhi Malhara for some work and was returning home with her husband when the accident occurred.Her husband, who was riding the motorcycle, narrowly escaped unhurt but witnessed his wife’s death.Police reached the spot after being informed and sent the body to the district hospital with the help of a 108 ambulance. A marg has been registered and efforts are on to trace the truck driver using CCTV footage.Locals caught the truck driver when he tried to flee after the accident and assaulted him. He was later admitted to the district hospital. The truck (UP 77 AN 4198) was travelling from Chennai to Kanpur. Further investigation is underway.
