7‑year‑old boy run over, killed by speeding bus in Sidhi

Bhopal: A seven‑year‑old boy died after being run over by a speeding bus in Belgaon village of Sidhi district on Tuesday morning, police said. The accident occurred on the Amiliya‑Kodaura Road around 10 am.

The deceased was identified as Devansh Patel, son of local resident Gyanendra Patel. Eyewitnesses said the child was on his way from home when a speeding and allegedly uncontrolled bus struck him as he stood near the roadside; he died on the spot from severe injuries.

The incident triggered outrage among villagers, who gathered in large numbers at the accident site. Police from Amiliya station reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The body was later sent for postmortem.

Police seized the Priya bus involved in the accident while efforts continued to trace the driver, who fled after the incident. “The bus was seized, but its driver managed to escape from the spot. A case has been registered and detailed investigations are going on,” Amiliya police station in‑charge Rakesh Singh Bais told TOI.
