VIP treatment in jail; IPS officer counters Sasikala's lawyer's warning

on Monday accused IPS officer D Roopa of defaming her intentionally and warned of legal action, the officer said that she is not much worried about the occupational risks/hazards.

Following to the press conference of A Ashokan held at Chennai, tweeting the TOI report of Chennai, D Roopa said, "I have always held that these (defamation suit, transfers, threats) are occupational risks/hazards. Yet,officers should not shy away from it. Public servants have to be transparent and accountable."

Ashokan at press conference claimed Sasikala was entitled to wear her own clothes and not the prison uniform, according to the Karnataka prison manual, as she was serving simple imprisonment.

The Vinay Kumar committee report probed into the allegations of providing special treatment to Sasikala after it was reported by Roopa. The committee report which recently came out to

stated that Sasikala was given special treatment.

The report also threw light on Sasikala holding conversation with Ashokan for more than 45 minutes which is against jail manual. The report said, "On July 11, 2017 the daily report submitted by the chief superintendent of the prison shows that Sasikala met Ashokan for 45 minutes and the report also shows that

on that day had met seven visitors and total time was again 45 minutes.The committee also said that there was case of falsification of records.
