Bengaluru: Saneeth S Dayanand and Rujula Ramu scored contrasting victories to emerge champions in the men and women’s category respectively at the state ranking badminton tournament that concluded at the KBA here on Tuesday.
In the men’s title round, Saneeth got past Pruthvi K Roy 21-14, 21-18. In the corresponding women’s event, Rujula Ramu dropped the first game 22-24 against Drithi Yatheesh but rallied to take the next two 21-15, 21-9.
Rujula was denied a double by Neysa Cariappa, who claimed the U-19 girls title with a hard-fought 17-21, 22-20, 21-19. In the U-19 boys final, Ayush R Shetty thwarted a spirited challenge from Tushar Suveer to emerge a 22-20, 23-21 victor. Nithin HV bagged a double in doubles. He won the men’s doubles partnering
Vaibhav and the mixed doubles title along with Janani Ananthakumar.
