Karnataka floor test live updates: HD Kumarswamy submits resignation to the governor

Karnataka Speaker has acted in most partisan manner: Union Minister Pralhad Joshi

Union minister Pralhad Joshi accused Karnataka assembly speaker KR Ramesh Kumar of acting in the "most partisan manner" and deliberately delaying the trust vote to help Congress-JD(S) government stay afloat. "It is very unfortunate that the deadline is extended every day. The speaker, about whom people had great expectations, has fully disappointed us. He has behaved in the most partisan manner," he said.

Rebels MLAs have full protection against disqualification: Rohatgi

Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing rebel Karnataka MLAs, on Tuesday, said they enjoy protection from the Supreme Court against disqualification and they were free to participate or not in the proceedings in the assembly during the trust vote. "15 MLAs who have got protection from the Supreme Court last week. They have protection in as much as they have the option of appearing in the proceedings or not because they have been issued a whip. A whip is the basis of disqualification so that the Supreme Court's order granting them protection is a protection against the whip. The whip's enforcement by disqualification is accordingly also protected," Rohatgi told reporters after the court proceedings.

It will always be dealt with in the court," Kumar told ANI when asked to comment on the letter. 13 rebel MLAs, who are currently at a hotel in Mumbai, wrote a letter to the assembly speaker earlier today, asking for four weeks' time to appear before him.
