BANGALORE/HUBLI: Though arriving late on the scene, the Congress has decided to lend support to the Gadag bandh on July 15, to protest acquisition of land for Posco project.
AICCgeneral secretary Karnataka in charge Madhusudhan Mistry told STOI here onSaturday that he will bring the controversial issue to Congress MP RahulGandhi’s notice. Rahul, who concluded his four-day 70-km padayatra inGreater Noida and Aligarh said farmers’ lands were being acquired by thegovernment for constructing golf courses and racing tracks. The Gadag bandh onJuly 15 has been called by the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha.
KPCC president G Parameshwara told reporters that the manner in which the state government has set out to acquire farmers’ lands has given rise to many questions. The party had delegated the responsibility to former minister and local leader
H K Patil to spearhead the agitation, he added.
