Devanahalli crash: Biker flung off, dies after speeding car rams into him in Bengaluru
BENGALURU: A 43-year-old biker died in a road accident after a speeding car rammed into his vehicle near Bettakote village in Devanahalli taluk in the early hours of Friday.The deceased has been identified as Venkategowda BV, a resident of Bettakote village.The accident occurred on the Budigere–Devanahalli Main Road when a car bearing registration number KA-03-NC-5384 hit the bike from behind at high speed.The impact of the collision was so severe that Venkategowda was flung into the air before crashing onto the road, killing him on the spot. The car driver, who lost control after the crash, reportedly overturned the vehicle before veering into a roadside ditch. Both the bike and the car were extensively damaged.Venkategowda was reportedly on his way to his agricultural land when the accident occurred.Locals who witnessed the speeding car rushed to the scene and found an ID card inside the vehicle belonging to a student of a medical college in Devanahalli.A senior police officer said villagers claimed the person in the ID card was driving the vehicle but managed to flee after the accident. “We are yet to confirm who was driving the car. So far, no medico-legal case has been reported from any hospital regarding the car driver undergoing treatment for injuries,” the officer said.Chennarayapatna police from Bengaluru district rushed to the spot, conducted an inspection, and removed the damaged vehicle using a crane. The body has been sent for post-mortem.A case has been registered against the driver.
