Newborn dumped, body found on roadside

Pilibhit: The body of a newborn boy was found wrapped in cloth at Bilsanda T-junction near Bhind-Lipulekh NH-731 in Pilibhit district, police said on Saturday. Officials said the baby was dumped in roadside shrubs by unidentified persons and later dragged onto the road by stray dogs.Commuters who saw dogs attacking the body drove them away and informed police. Officials did not rule out the possibility that the newborn may have been alive earlier and could have died due to the dog attack. The body has been sent for autopsy to the district headquarters.SHO of Bisalpur Kotwali police station, Sanjiv Shukla, said, "We are scanning CCTV footage in the area to identify those involved or the vehicle used. An FIR will be registered based on the autopsy findings."
