IG, wife booked on sacked cop’s complaint
RAMPUR: Additional chief judicial majistrate 3rd Manish Kumar on Friday registered a criminal complaint case against senior IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, IG (civil defence), his wife and social activist Nutan Thakur and traffic police officer of Lucknow Vishan Swaroop Sharma on the complaint of an Uttar Pradesh police constable Mohammad Rafi, whose services were terminated earlier.

Rafi alleged that the Thakurs, Swaroop and local resident Ishrat Khan threatened him with dire consequences over his mobile phone and hatched a criminal conspiracy along with the unidentified assailants who had detained him at his home.Rafi alleged that the couple had detained him at his home and forced him to withdraw the case against Danish Khan
According to the former constable, he has now become a police informer of Rampur, CO, city, Aly Hasan Khan. Speaking with TOI, Mohammad Rafi said on May 2, he had lodged an FIR against Danish Khan, associated with Police Karmchari Kalyan Parishad accusing him of attempt to murder and cheating. Danish Khan was arrested and sent to jail.
“After that the Thakurs, Sharma and Ishrat Khan, who is Danish’s brother, started harassing me for to withdraw the FIR against Danish. On April 30, assilants barged into my house and forced me to sign the affidavits in favour of Danish.”
Terming the allegations baseless, Nutan Thakur said she was ready to take the narco analysis test. Nutan Thakur alleged that she and her husband Amitabh were continuously harassed by Rampur police at the behest of UP minister Mohammad Azam Khan since she had filed a PIL against the allotment of Jauhar Research Institute building to the minister’s private Jauhar Trust by the state government before the Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court .

Nutan added that she and her husband were being targeted by Azam Khan because they had lent their voice to Valmiki Basti residents who were being forced to vacate their homes in Rampur.
Amitabh Thakur said, “It’s a privilege for us that our work has become visible now. It is a constitutional duty of every citizen to raised his/her voice against suppression of the underprivileged people and we are targeted because we have filed a unbiased report before the office of the chief secretary of the state against the proposed demolition of Valmiki Basti houses by the civic authorities.”
Amit Kumar, an advocate of Mohammad Rafi, said, “ Under section 156 (3) of CrPc, the court has registered a Criminal Complaint Case and on May 30, the statement of Rafi will be recorded under section 200 CrPc in the case.”
