J&K polls: Engineer Rashid's car attacked at campaign
The campaign vehicle of Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid was attacked Sunday by an assailant who stomped on the bonnet and the front windshield, damaging the glass. Sheikh Abdul Rashid (57), popularly known as Engineer Rashid, who was in the car when the incident happened was unhurt.
The car was attacked in the Langate area of Kupwara district on the last day of electioneering in north Kashmir.
A video of the attack which appeared on social media showed a man climbing and stomping on the bonnet and the front windshield of the vehicle.

Kumari Shelja confirms Congress high command to decide Haryana CM; Rahul, Priyanka Gandhi to visit Ambala
Congress MP Kumari Shelja, while campaigning in Ambala, Haryana, for party candidate Parminder Pari, stated that the decision regarding the Chief Ministerial candidate would be made by the party's high command.
"The CM face will be decided by the party high command after the elections," Shelja responded when asked about the Congress candidate for the post of Chief Minister in Haryana.

Haryana polls: Congress expels two leaders for anti-party activities
Ahead of the Haryana Assembly polls, Congress on Sunday expelled its two leaders for six years for indulging in anti-party activities.
As per an official letter, Virender Gogria and Somvir Ghasola have been suspended with immediate effect for six years.
"Consequent upon the receipt of reports through various means of communication pertaining to party leaders having found indulged in anti-party activities by fighting the ongoing assembly election against the parts candidates and to curb indiscipline in the party, the following persons are hereby expelled from the party for 6 years with immediate effect," the letter said.
On September 27, Congress suspended its 13 leaders for six years for anti-party activity.

'He's factory of lies': Amit Shah takes jibe at Rahul Gandhi over Agnipath scheme during rally in Haryana

Haryana Assembly Elections 2024: JJP-ASP alliance releases poll manifesto, promises to buy all crops at MSP in Haryana
The Jannayak Janta Party-Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) alliance on Sunday released its poll manifesto for the Haryana assembly polls, promising to procure all grains at MSP, unemployment allowance of Rs 11,000 and old age pension of Rs 5,100 per month. Every grain of every crop grown in Haryana will be procured at MSP, JJP leader Dushyant Chautala told reporters in Sirsa while releasing the JJP-ASP manifesto for the October 5 polls.
The alliance also promised Rs 25,000 per acre compensation for crop damage and said the 'Jannayak Fasal Suraksha Scheme' will be started for farmers, in which premium amount will be borne by the state government.
Among other promises, unemployed youth will be given Rs 11,000 monthly unemployment allowance and old age pension will be given at the rate of Rs 5,100 per month.
Announcing sops for students, the party said students from rural areas will be given extra weightage in jobs and admission to higher education.
Only Rs 100 will be charged as a one-time fee for applying for all recruitments, as per the manifesto, which the two allies named as "Jansewa Patr".
A scooty will be given to girls of poor families who have passed Class 12 exams and student union elections will be conducted directly every year, he said.
The alliance also promised to make arrangements for higher education of Agniveer warriors.

Jammu and Kashmir Polls 2024: Arrangements made for terror, violence-free 3rd phase polls, says Jammu ADGP after Kathua encounter
Following the encounter with terrorists in village Kog (Mandli), in the Kathua district on Saturday, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of Jammu Anand Jain said that they have made all the required arrangements for the third phase of the assembly polls in the Union Territory.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, ADGP Jain said that they are continuing the search operation in the area for terrorists and that they are making the arrangements so that there are no terror attacks or violence during the polls.
"We are continuing our operations, and we have also made the required arrangements for the third phase of the elections here so that there are no terror attacks or violence during the third phase," he said.
Earlier on Saturday, one police personnel was killed while two other security personnel sustained bullet injuries during an encounter with terrorists in village Kog (Mandli), in the Kathua district of Jammu division.
According to ADGP Jain, one head constable named Bashir Ahmed was killed, while an Assistant Sub-inspector and another Deputy Superintendent of Police got injured in the incident. Both ASI and DSP are now stable, the ADGP further added.

Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections 2024: Pilot slams BJP's 'PoK pitch' as 'election rhetoric', calls it ploy to divert attention
Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Sunday slammed as "election rhetoric" the BJP's recent 'PoK will be part of Jammu and Kashmir' pitch and asked what stopped it from taking steps to realise that goal when it had a full majority government for 10 years. The Congress general secretary, who has been campaigning extensively for the current round of assembly polls, also exuded confidence that the Congress may break all previous records to get a larger number of seats than ever before in Haryana.
In an interview with PTI, Pilot said the Congress could get more than a two-thirds majority in Haryana and claimed the top BJP leadership was showing a lack of interest in campaigning, having sensed the reality on the ground.
He said despite attempts by many forces to create a sense of confusion in the Kashmir Valley and in Jammu, the Congress-National Conference's collective campaign will ensure they form a government with a comfortable majority.
Asked about Yogi Adityanath's remarks last week that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) will become part of J-K after the BJP returns to power, Pilot said, "I am surprised why the chief minister of a state is making that statement right during the elections. They have been in the government for the last 10 years. I must remind you, the first time Parliament passed a unanimous resolution to take back the PoK was in 1994 when the Congress was in government. We were in power and we made that commitment through Parliament."

CM Bhupesh Baghel said, "There is a terrific electoral atmosphere in Haryana. People of Haryana have decided to vote the BJP out of power, which has misruled the state for 10 years. The nation is aware of the farmers' protest which has been going on for a long time, the betrayal of the youth through the agniveer scheme and finally people have seen wrestlers' protest. People are deeply troubled by corruption, bureaucracy, and incapability of the government and they want a change."
He said further that the voting on October 5 would be against the BJP government. After a decade in power in Haryana, the BJP faces a crucial test in the Haryana elections, with key issues like farmer protests, wrestler support, and leadership changes, as a loss here could ripple across future state and national elections.

The BJP suspended three of its leaders on Saturday after they were found involved in anti-party activities ahead of the third phase of polling in Jammu and Kashmir.
The names of the leaders are Amit Sharma, DDC Majalta, Prakshit Singh, DDC Jaganu and Swarn Singh Rathore, District Vice President, Udhampur.
In a letter dated September 28, BJP state working President Sat Paul Sharma said, "On the basis of the recommendations of the Disciplinary Committee, you are hereby suspended from the Bharatiya Janata Party for your anti-party activities during the ongoing elections, for which you have already been served a show cause notice. This order comes into immediate effect."
Earlier Prime Minister Narendra Modi hit out against the Congress in his election rally in Jammu and spoke of the 2016 surgical strikes and "robust response" of his government against those trying to create trouble in the country.

With his poll rallies in Haryana and Jammu on Saturday coinciding with the anniversary of the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian armed forces against POK-based terror launch pads in 2016, PM Narendra Modi hit out at Congress, recalling how the opposition party had questioned the strikes seeking proof of the entire operation.
"Today is September 28. Let me remind you that it was on the night of Sept 28 (2016), we had carried out the surgical strike...what did Congress do? They asked our Army for proof of the surgical strike. This is the same Congress which called our Army chief a street goon. Will the patriotic people of Haryana tolerate such a Congress," the PM said at Hisar. It is often said that every 10th solider in the Indian Army is from Haryana.

Haryana Assembly elections: BJP slams Rahul for Ayodhya event remark
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi came under attack on Saturday for his "naach-gaana" comment on the January 22 consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, with the ruling BJP calling him a "liar of the highest order".
The saffron party also said his comments show the Gandhi family's real nature and contempt for Hinduism.
The BJP reacted after a video clip of Gandhi went viral on social media, in which he is heard saying, "Amitabh Bachchan, Ambani and Adani were invited" to attend the consecration of the Ram temple but "no poor people, labourers or farmers" were called to attend the event.
"Naach-gana (dancing-singing) was happening there," the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha said, addressing a poll rally in Haryana's Barwala on Thursday.
