Bus overturns on NH; 16 injured

Pilibhit: Sixteen passengers were injured after a sleeper bus travelling from Delhi to Lakhimpur Kheri overturned on Pilibhit-Basti NH-730 near Kainch village under Gajraula police station early Monday.The bus was carrying 29 passengers. Some passengers told authorities that the accident occurred after the driver allegedly dozed off.Following a letter from Pilibhit's assistant regional transport officer, Virendra Singh, the Lakhimpur transport department suspended the driver Pappu Lal's licence for three months. He is a resident of Dhaurhara Khurd village in Lakhimpur.Police shifted the injured to the Autonomous State Medical College at the district headquarters. Among the injured were seven children aged between one and 15 years.Gajraula SHO Brajveer Singh said that four passengers with head injuries are reported to be in critical condition.
