BAREILLY: Chief proctor of Bareilly College, Alok Khare, was removed from his post by the principal following protests by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) over alleged derogatory remarks against a woman seer during Navratri. College authorities said ABVP members on Wednesday gathered outside the principal’s office and raised slogans against Khare over a social media post attributed to him. The situation escalated briefly when Khare reached the spot, leading to a minor scuffle before college staff intervened and brought it under control. Principal Om Prakash Rai said, “Khare has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.” Senior professor Indivar Singh Chauhan has been appointed as the new chief proctor. ABVP members also submitted a memorandum to the principal demanding further action in the matter, officials added.
