3 killed, 2 hurt in separate bike accidents in Pilibhit
Pilibhit: Three people died and two others were critically injured in two separate bike accidents in Pilibhit district on Wednesday. Police said none of the victims was wearing a helmet.In the first incident, two speeding motorcycles collided head-on and the impact was so severe that both riders died on the spot. One of the deceased, Surendra Kumar, 25, was returning to his village from his in-laws' house after celebrating Holi. The other, Dhanpal, 30, a resident of Badhela village in Shahjahanpur district, was travelling to his native village.In another incident around 5 pm near Mirpur village, Amarjeet, 28, a resident of Kataiyya Usmanpur village in Shahjahanpur district, died when his motorcycle collided head-on with another bike carrying two cousins, Pankaj Kumar, 19, and Arvind Kumar, 20. Police said Amarjeet was on his way to his uncle's house in Tilchhi village to exchange Holi greetings, while the cousins were heading to Arvind's wife's parental house when the accident occurred.Police sent the three bodies for autopsy. The injured were initially taken to the community health centre at Bilsanda block headquarters and later referred to the autonomous state medical college hospital as both had fractured legs and were in critical condition.Regional transport officer of Bareilly division, Pranav Jha, visited the accident sites to review the situation. Station house officer Vipin Shukla said further investigation was underway.
