Aurangabad: The new water distribution formula, according to which 60% of Aurangabad city receives supply on every fouth day and remaining 40% on the sixth day by rotation in a month, has alleviated the residents’woes.
The 60-40 formula, as suggested by the Aurangabad bench of Bombay high court in response to a bunch of pleas related to water issues, has given some respite to citizens reeling under water scarcity due to once a week water supply earlier. Gopal Kulkarni, a senior citizen from the N-11 area, said that
legal intervention has ensured each area of Aurangabad receives some more water supply rather than the entire city suffering due to extended gap in the distribution network.
Mohiuddin Kazi, in-charge of the water supply section of the AMC, said that the 60-40 formula of water distribution has covered almost all the network areas of Aurangabad. “We have been implementing the new water distribution model in the light of the order from the judiciary since January 1 and it is yielding positive results,” he said.
