police of Beed district for her alleged defamatory social media post against NCP chief Sharad Pawar.
The latest offence is one of the multiple offences that have been registered against her in different parts of the state in the past three days.
Ambajogai NCP taluka president Tarachand Shinde registered a complaint against Chitale following which, the police registered an FIR under IPC sections 500 (defamation), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), 501 (printing or engraving matter known to be defamatory) and 505 (2) (making, publishing or circulating any statement, rumour or report promoting enmity, hatred or ill will between classes).
On the complaints lodged by NCP activists in different parts of the state, two offences against her have been registered in Mumbai, one each in Thane, Pune, Akola, Ahmednagar and now in Beed district.
Police said that defamation NC offences had been registered against her in other police units too. Since her alleged derogatory post against senior Pawar, Chitale has been embroiled in controversy. However, legal experts have cited different high courts as well as Supreme Court rulings in which it has been upheld that there cannot be multiple FIRs for the same crime/incident.
