Dhule man arrested with 6kg ganja in Sillod town
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A 33-year-old man was arrested while allegedly trying to sell 6kg of ganja worth Rs3 lakh in Sillod town of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, officials from the anti-narcotics task force said on Thursday.Acting on a specific tip-off received late on Wednesday, the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar unit of the anti-narcotics task force swung into action and laid a trap near City Shakti Kata in Sillod. The accused — identified as Saddam Yakub Qureshi (33), a resident of Dhondhaicha area in Sindkheda taluka of Dhule district — was intercepted when he arrived there to allegedly sell the contraband. "Upon searching him, the team recovered around 6kg of ganja. The seized narcotic substance appears to be of high quality," a police officer said. The accused was taken into custody and later handed over to Sillod City police station for further legal action. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, including sections 8(C), 22(B) and 5(A). The operation was carried by the ANTF teams under deputy superintendent of police Sainath Thombre and police inspector Geeta Bagwade.
