Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Hingoli's Hatta police have registered two FIRs against 44 people for illegally installing a statue and later allegedly violating prohibitory orders, abusing police personnel and obstructing them from discharging official duties late on Friday night.
According to the police, despite prohibitory orders being in force at Hatta, a group gathered and illegally installed a statue of Shivaji Maharaj without obtaining legal permission. When police officers and staff reached the spot to bring the situation under control, members of the crowd allegedly used abusive language and prevented the public servants from performing their duties.
The Hatta police have registered a case under BNS sections 223 and 189(1) along with relevant provisions for unlawful assembly and disobedience of orders duly promulgated by a public servant.
Another case was registered in connection with an incident near Hatkeshwar temple on Solala Road in Hatta, where a crowd allegedly assembled without permission, took out a rally and defied prohibitory orders. Police have invoked sections 126(2), 189(2), 221, 223 and 296 of the BNS.
Hingoli SP Nilabh Rohan said, "We appeal to citizens to seek due permission from the administration before installing statues or taking out rallies and to adhere to the law."
